Hybrid Learning and COVID-19

COVID 19 has changed our world in many ways. It has forced us to take a different look at how we live our lives both inside and outside of the home. From the office to our schools, many things will be different. That being said, many things will still be the same.

Offices will have staff, and schools will have students. For schools, something called Hybrid Learning will begin to be a part of our common language. This will be a combination of both online and offline learning. Offline learning is what we are used to. It is what our parents and their parents are used to, and it is something that will be around for a very long time. Our children will go to their normal schools with other students, and learn with their teachers in a physical classroom.

The online portion of hybrid learning is something that many of us have been experiencing since the beginning of 2020. It is not what we are used to, but let’s look at the benefits of learning online:

Convenience: You don’t have to leave your home, and you can study from anywhere at any time that suits you.

Safety: There’s a much lesser risk of contracting a life threatening disease or virus if your children spend more time in the home, and no chance of getting physically hurt by another student or a teacher.

Better Access: As you don’t have to choose from teachers that are located within a 10 kilometer radius of your learning space, you will have access to fantastic teachers from all around the world

Saves Time: There’s no need to sit in traffic, find parking, or do any commuting at all to learn online. This typically saves between 1-2 hours each class, which is time that can be better spent doing other productive things.

The list can go on and on, but the point is to look at the positives of every situation. Even during a pandemic such as COVID-19, there are still many positives that we can take away from this. One of the most important ones is that we have much more family time as a result of this. We are not feeling the need to go and spend money at restaurants or at the mall for “family time.” We are getting plenty of family time without opening our wallets.

It’s incredible that the world economy is starting to crash simply because people are only buying what they need and not all the extra things that they want or they think they need. Enjoy this time at home with your family. Take advantage of the amazing online offerings there are in terms of education, fitness and health. There will be a point in the future where you wished you had this time back. Happy learning, happy living!
